Every game has different audiences of different people who will play their game, understanding your audience is important when making a game because if you try to make a game for everybody and not your target audience you may end up creating a game where nobody is happy, and the game is boring.
An example is that Minecraft can be played by mostly anybody, and is designed for younger people, whereas a game like Doom is designed for people who are 18 or above and is intended for male players, this means that females can play the game but the game, its story and its gameplay is meant to appeal to an older male audience.
Just because a game has a specific target audience doesn't mean that people outside their demographic cannot play <span class="NormalTextRun SCXW107398891 BCX0" <their<="" span="">>span class="NormalTextRun SCXW107398891 BCX0"> game, it does mean that it isn't designed for people outside of their target audience</span>
If every game attempted to cater to every audience, then <span class="NormalTextRun SCXW107398891 BCX0" <then<="" span="">every game would be boring and feel like every other game.</span>
