Pegi ratings

Pegi

Why was Pegi created

Pegi was a system created in 2003 to help parents make informed decisions about what games their <span class="NormalTextRun SCXW163195704 BCX0" <their<="" span="">children were allowed to play</span>

Pegi 3

Pegi 3 is the lowest rating and is meant for children.

If a game is classified as a Pegi 3 tan that means that it would not contain anything involving sexual activity/innuendoes, Drugs, bad language, or anything else that could be considered adult

A small amount of violence is allowed if it is playful and does not portray violence such as bleeding, gore or anything that is considered not child/family friendly

An example of a Pegi 3 game is angry birds which is a game where you can destroy buildings built by green pigs by launching a group of different birds at the buildings.

<span class="NormalTextRun SCXW172778974 BCX0" <this="" is="" a="" good="" example="" because="" none="" of="" the="" characters="" <="" span="">the characters can make noise but cannot talk, which means there is no bad language, and because the characters are birds and pigs there cannot be anything sexually suggestive about them.</span>

<span class="NormalTextRun SCXW172778974 BCX0" <the="" only="" violence="" in="" the="" game="" is="" when="" birds="" and="" pigs="" <="" span="">the only violence that is portrayed is when the birds and pigs collide, which in the games only makes them get black eyes, bandages, and missing teeth, which is always shown in a humorous or childish way.</span>

Pegi 7

Pegi 7 is slightly above Pegi 3 in what it allows and is still meant for children but who are grown up.

Games that are Pegi 7 include a slight increase in violence, but they still do not contain any extreme amounts of violence, also there are still no sexual scenes/innuendoes, and there is also still no use of bad language.

A good example of a Pegi 7 game is Minecraft due to its infinite creativity that would attract people around the age of 7 to play this game, but the game is not a Pegi 3 due to some of the monsters such as zombies, skeletons, and others could potently be scary for a young child.

Pegi 12

Pegi 12 is for people who are more grown up now and is meant for early teens.

Games in this age rating will still typically contain no blood and gore but are less strict with weaponry that is allowed, swearing and sexual actions/inuendoes are still not allowed

Fortnite is a good example of a Pegi 12 game because it shows how games can include deadly weapons like guns or swords, without there being gore or blood, also in Fortnite there is not any swearing of anything sexual

Pegi16

Pegi 16 is a large step up from Pegi 12 and is meant for late teens and young adults.

In Pegi 16 games there will be blood and Maby gore, sexual innuendoes are allowed however sexual scenes are still not allowed, in Pegi 16 games there might be swearing as it is not banned for Pegi 16 games.

Call of Duty is a good example of a Pegi 16 game and unlike the previously mentioned games, killing somebody in COD will show blood and sometimes gore. In call of duty’s story mode some of the characters will swear, however it is rare that there is a sexually suggestive scene across the call of duty games

Pegi 18

Pegi 18 games are the most brutal and violent, being a step up from Pegi 16.

Pegi 18 games have almost no limits on what they can show.

<span class="NormalTextRun SCXW99728101 BCX0" <they="" have="" no="" limits="" on="" how="" gory="" something="" can="" be,="" sexual="" innuendoes="" and="" scenes="" are="" <="" span="">in pegi 18 games there is almost nothing that isn't allowed, and all the characters are allowed to swear as much as they want, not including things that are considered too racist or sexist.</span>

GTA 5 is a perfect example of a Pegi 18 game, this is because you can do all sorts of horrible things to anyone you want with an assortment of weapons, there is adult language in the game all the time and there are sexual scenes in certain arias of the game.
